As part of The Android Show | I/O Edition, Google today announced deeper Gemini integration across Android. The company wants to do so with smarter automation, AI-powered browsing, custom widgets, multilingual voice writing, and contextual actions that work directly across apps. The company calls it “Gemini Intelligence,” which is designed to make Android into something that actively helps throughout your day rather than simply reacting to commands. Here’s everything Google is promising.

Google wants Gemini handling tasks across Android apps for you

In the announcement blogpost, Google notes that Gemini Intelligence will first roll out on upcoming Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones later this summer. The experience will then expand across watches, cars, glasses, and laptops later down the line. Google has highlighted multi-step app automation as one of the biggest features of Gemini Intelligence. The company notes that Gemini can now take actions across apps without users constantly switching between screens.

For example, Gemini can help find your class syllabus in Gmail and add required books into your shopping cart automatically. Similarly, you can long-press the power button over a grocery list and ask Gemini to build a shopping cart instantly. Additionally, Google is betting big on contextual AI actions. Giving use cases as an example, Google notes that you can snap a photo of a travel brochure and ask Gemini to find similar tours online for larger groups. The company says tasks happen live in the background while users remain in control of confirmations.

Gemini will soon revamp Chrome experience, Gboard, widgets, and Autofill

Starting in late June, Gemini in Chrome will help Android users summarize, compare, and research web content faster. Google also says Chrome can soon automate tasks like parking reservations and appointment bookings.

Meanwhile, Autofill with Google is becoming smarter via Gemini’s Personal Intelligence feature. Android devices will now fill more complex forms using data from connected apps. Notably, Google says that the feature remains completely opt-in.

Speaking of AI upgrades, Gboard is getting a new feature called Rambler. It turns natural speech filled with pauses and corrections into cleaner text automatically. Rambler can even switch between multiple languages in the same sentence. Last but not least, Android is also getting AI-generated widgets through “Create My Widget.” Users can simply describe the widget they want using natural language.

Moreover, Google says Gemini Intelligence will land alongside a refreshed Material 3 Expressive design focused on reducing distractions and improving focus.
