TOKYO, October 24, 2024 – NTT DATA has revealed an unprecedented Framework for Talent Development focused on GenAI marking a significant milestone in corporate AI education. The digital business giant plans to offer GenAI basic training to the entire workforce of 200,000 people while seeking to create a cadre of 30,000 AI specialists in the company by the end of the fiscal year 2026.
Yutaka Sasaki, president and CEO of NTT DATA, insists that there is no time to lose:
“With the rapid advancement of Generative AI, talent development has become a social imperative. By utilizing the framework we have established, we can efficiently cultivate highly skilled professionals.”
In addition, the framework provides for four different levels within which the learners fall starting from essential GenAI knowledge to advanced leadership capabilities. This well-organized plan is envisioned to certify at least 15,000 higher-level GenAI practitioners by the end of the fiscal year 2024, before doubling that number by 2026.
As the 12th-ranked firm in the world on GenAI patents, it shows that NTT DATA is serious about artificial intelligence. The program relies on over 40 years of the company’s AI-oriented R&D by combining technical expertise with practical business applications.
The initiative represents a strategic response to the growing demand for AI expertise across industries, with training paths designed for consultants, salespeople, developers, and Gen AI users. This approach is in line with NTT DATA’s vision of using technology for the good of society per their existing AI Ethics Policy.
