India Should Manufacture Its Own AI Declares NVIDIA CEO

NVIDIA AI Summit in Mumbai, India, was a success not just because its Chief Executive Officer, Jensen Huang, was personally present to attend but also because of the hints that his conversation with Mukesh Ambani had dropped. 

For starters, Jensen has backed the idea of India’s own artificial intelligence (AI). Jense believes that it would drive the country to transform its digital infrastructure, boost economic growth, and fuel innovation.

Huang is right in every sense. There is immense scope for India to take advantage of today’s window. Start-ups and other industry leaders are working in that direction, and such a confident statement strengthens their beliefs for better efforts. The NVIDIA AI Summit hosted an audience with diverse backgrounds, including academicians, developers, and business leaders.

What backs his confidence in India’s potential to tap into AI is the availability of natural resources in the fields of IT and Computer Science. NVIDIA, per his statement, is helping the country achieve this feat via GPU deployment, which could grow by 10 times by the end of this year.

Mukesh Ambani hosted Jensen Huang for the summit and personally interacted with him on the stage. Their communication was prompted by their partnership to establish AI factories, which are expected to be the backbone of India’s AI-driven growth. 

Huang said that India did not need to export data to import intelligence. This basically translates to outsourcing the task of architecting the AI journey and fully relying on foreign ventures.

Huang noted three areas where industries could be transformed – sovereign AI, agentic AI, and physical AI.

As the name suggests, Sovereign AI refers to using data to boost innovation. Agentic AI automates knowledge-based work. Physical AI makes the best of robotics and autonomous systems to make industrial tasks convenient and efficient. Start-ups in India have deployed NVIDIA in relevant sectors. 

For instance, the robotic ecosystem has adopted NVIDIA Issac and Omniverse to support physical AI. It aims to revolutionize logistics and manufacturing advanced automation.

NVIDIA is partnering with India’s tech giants, including TCS, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra. The goal is to upskill almost half a million developers so that the country can lead the AI revolution. The country has also been identified for its capability to participate in energy, healthcare, and manufacturing worldwide. 

Mukesh Ambani emphasized that such developments would only be achieved if everyone came together instead of relying on a particular set of participants. Huang echoed the sentiments and committed to collaborating so that India could take advantage of the upcoming intelligence revolution.

Such meetings and statements are powerful, highlighting India’s inherent quality. India also has a window to take the lead in having its own search engine and several sovereign social media platforms.
