First 5G Advanced Tech in the Middle East Deployed by Ericsson and e& UAE October 14, 2024 - Dubai, UAE

October 14, 2024 – Dubai, UAE-Ericsson and e& UAE have announced the successful deployment of the first 5G Advanced Time-Critical Communication Solution in the region of the Middle East and Africa.

This is regarded as another milestone for the region in the deployment of 5G technology. The breakthrough was attained using a Low Latency, Low Loss, Scalable Throughput (L4S) technology that forms an essential part of Ericsson’s 5G time-critical communication offering.

This announcement was made on GITEX Global 2024, which is ongoing in Dubai. L4S technology helps minimize lag, an important element to have in instances of advanced applications for the likes of real-time media and cloud gaming or physical tasks such as factory automation.

e& UAE’s 5G Standalone network was utilized for a live demonstration where half of the latency was maintained at acceptable levels and even went lower than the latencies defined before.

“The successful deployment of L4S time-critical communication technology with Ericsson in Middle East and Africa strengthens e& UAE’s position as a pioneer in advancing 5G capabilities in the region.”

Marwan Bin Shakar, Senior Vice President Access Network Development from e& UAE, said:

“The solution enables improvements in latency for real-time applications like cloud gaming, ensuring seamless connectivity.
