Meta is quietly testing premium subscription plans for its AI chatbot

Meta is no stranger when it comes to AI. The social media giant, which owns Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Threads, also has its own AI chatbot called “Meta AI.” All this while, using Meta AI has been free, but not anymore. With AI spending skyrocketing, Meta isn’t just reducing headcount within its company, it is also taking the subscription route for its AI services. Yes, you read that correctly.

Premium subscription tiers for Meta AI is being tested in some regions

Meta is officially stepping into paid AI services, and it wants to test whether users will actually pay monthly fees for its growing AI ecosystem. As reported by TechCrunch, Meta has quietly launched new subscription plans for its Meta AI chatbot.

Additionally, the company has also announced paid tiers for its apps, officially dubbed Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus. Speaking of Meta AI, the company is offering two subscription tiers. The first tier, called Meta One Plus, reportedly costs $7.99 per month.

Whereas the second one, Meta One Premium, sets you back $19.99 per month and is suitable for users with heavy AI usage. As of now, the company reportedly is testing the paid Meta AI plans in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia before expanding further globally.

Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp are also getting get “Plus” subscription tiers

As mentioned earlier, Meta has also introduced separate subscription options across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp globally, with pricing reportedly starting around $2.99 to $3.99 per month depending on the service.

Meta isn’t the only AI company to introduce paid tiers for its AI services. OpenAI, Google, and several other tech giants already aggressively push premium AI tiers. Now, it seems Meta also wants its own place inside that race too.
