Google I/O 2026: How to Watch Keynote Live & What to Expect

Google IO 2026

Google I/O 2026 is almost upon us. In exactly an hour from now, Sundar Pichai will take the stage to kick off Google’s biggest developer event of the year. And just like everyone expected, AI is reportedly going to dominate almost every part of the keynote once again. Given that Google is pouring billions of dollars into AI, the company seems ready to double down on Gemini even further.

For those who missed it, Google already held a dedicated Android Show last week, so don’t expect much Android news at today’s event. AI will likely remain the main attraction at I/O this year. However, there could still be a few notable Android-related surprises tucked between all the Gemini announcements.

When and How to Watch Google I/O 2026

Google’s keynote starts today at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET and will be livestreamed through Google I/O and Google’s YouTube channel. As usual, the presentation is expected to last close to two hours. To help you save time, we’ve embedded the YouTube livestream below:

Gemini Will Take Center Stage, Alongside Android XR

As for what’s coming, Gemini Intelligence will likely be one of the biggest talking points. Google already teased new AI automation tools during the Android Show, alongside features that can reportedly generate widgets automatically. Speaking of AI, Android XR may also get some stage time at the Google I/O 2026 event. To catch you up, the company teased Android XR smart glasses partnerships last year. However, we still haven’t seen any real consumer-facing products. There’s a good chance they could finally be unveiled at this event. That said, some rumors still point toward a separate Galaxy Unpacked reveal later this summer.

Smart Home AI Could Also Be Part of Google I/O 2026

We also expect smart home-related Gemini announcements at today’s event. Gemini may start appearing in more smart home devices, with Google reportedly preparing updates for its Gemini-powered smart speakers. Leaks also suggest that third-party brands like Walmart could join the ecosystem.

There’s also a decent chance Google could quietly mention Android 17 timing during the keynote. After all, the company surprisingly skipped release details during last week’s Android Show. In case, you want to learn more, you can check our dedicated guide on Google I/O 2026 expectations.
