Apple’s Siri Could Get a Full AI Chatbot Makeover Next Year

Apple's Siri Could Get a Full AI Chatbot

Apple’s dream of an AI-powered Siri might finally become true. In fact, the Cupertino giant is looking to change the narrative around Siri by overhauling it into an AI chatbot, similar to Google’s Gemini. That’s according to prominent Apple tipster and Bloomberg reporter, Mark Gurman.

Apple is reportedly rebuilding Siri as an AI chatbot

In his report from earlier today, Gurman mentions that Apple has plans to turn the voice assistant into a full-fledged AI chatbot. Well, the work is reportedly underway to achieve that feat. Internally, the project is codenamed “Campos.”

In the age of Gemini, Siri feels dated, and sadly for Apple, it didn’t do much to turn the tides. While everyone hoped the company would make some big announcements at the time of WWDC 2025, it never happened. In fact, the company shut down its AI dreams.

It seems the historic partnership with Google appears to have given Apple the confidence boost it was looking for for a long time now. So, what is Apple’s new AI chatbot project “Campos” all about? Well, the idea is quite simple. Apple is reportedly looking to replace Siri’s current interface with a conversational, interactive mode, somewhat similar to that of Gemini and ChatGPT.

Interestingly, Apple tested Campos as a standalone app. But it doesn’t want to release it that way. The iPhone maker is looking to bake that AI chatbot experience directly into Siri. So, we are looking at a chatbot-first Siri.

The chatbot-first Siri reportedly coming with iOS 27, with a few upgrades planned for this year

According to Gurman, Apple could roll out the Siri AI chatbot with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, which are currently rumored to release late next year. Rather than asking users to download something new, Apple appears focused on deep system-level integrations. The idea is for Siri to feel less like a command tool and more like a built-in AI layer across the platform.

That said, users won’t have to wait that long to see changes. The report notes that Apple is still planning meaningful Siri upgrades in iOS 26.4. Those updates include long-delayed AI features first teased back in 2024, after multiple internal setbacks. Moreover, the report also hints that Siri’s future may extend beyond phones and computers.

Separate claims suggest Apple could be exploring new AI-focused hardware, including a wearable AI pin, possibly coming in 2027 too.
For now, all eyes are on Siri. If this chatbot pivot lands well, it could finally mark Apple’s real entry into the modern AI era.
