Meta, as you may know, has been pouring billions into AI ($65 billion to be precise in 2025), as it looks to keep up with the intensifying competition. While the company hoped its Llama model would come out strong. Sadly, it never did. But, that setback alone doesn’t appear to have hampered Meta’s future AI goals. Meta is now reportedly getting ready to push its next wave of AI products, and it seems that users won’t have to wait too long to see them.
Meta says its AI reset is finally paying off
During Meta’s latest investor call on Wednesday, Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company will start rolling out new AI models and products “over the coming months,” following a major internal reset of its AI efforts late last year. According to Zuckerberg, Meta spent much of last year rebuilding the foundations of its AI program. That restructuring included changes to its AI lab and a renewed focus on long-term infrastructure.
Now, the company believes it’s ready to move from preparation to execution. While Zuckerberg didn’t share exact launch dates or name specific products, he mentioned that the company plans to gradually push forward throughout the year.
Interestingly, Meta has plans for AI-powered commerce. Zuckerberg said Meta is working on agentic shopping tools that could help users find the right products from businesses listed in Meta’s catalog. The idea is to allow AI agents to handle discovery and decision-making, rather than forcing users to scroll endlessly through listings.
To catch you up, OpenAI, Perplexity, and other AI companies have already put their step forward in that direction. However, Zuckerberg claims that Meta has a unique advantage. advantage, according to Zuckerberg, comes down to personal context. He explained that Meta’s AI systems can understand users’ history, interests, content, and relationships. This context, he said, is what makes AI agents truly valuable. Meta believes this will allow it to provide more personal and relevant AI experiences compared to rivals.
Big AI ambitions drive Meta’s 2026 spending plans
Meta is reportedly backing this vision with a serious amount of money. The company expects capital expenditures to stay between $115 billion and $135 billion in 2026, which is a big increase considering figures from the last year. Meta says the spending is linked to its Superintelligence Labs and the infrastructure to support future AI products.
Zuckerberg acknowledged that investors have questioned how all this investment will pay off. That said, he assured that the work won’t stay locked inside the lab for long. According to him, 2026 will be the year when personal superintelligence starts accelerating Meta’s business, and shaping how the company operates going forward. If Meta delivers on that promise, users could start seeing a very different kind of AI experience inside its apps sooner rather than later.
