Last September, Google announced Gemini-powered features in Chrome. At the time, the features were limited to U.S. users. Fast forward to today, the Mountain View giant has announced that it has expanded Gemini features in Chrome for users in India, Canada, and New Zealand. The new AI features are powered by Gemini 3.1, which the company rolled out to U.S. users back in January this year.

Gemini now sits in Chrome’s side panel to help you with multiple tasks

As part of the rollout, Gemini sits right inside Chrome as an AI assistant, which takes care of your browsing experience. Be it summarizing web pages, comparing products across multiple tabs, or getting help across Google apps, Gemini does it all without you having to leave the current tab. Notably, all of that happens in Chrome’s side panel.

With Gemini inside Chrome, you can get key pointers and summaries of lengthy articles in seconds. If you are someone like me who keeps multiple tabs open, the good news is that the browser can now remember all your previously visited sites. Google, in its announcement, also added that Gemini is getting support for more than 50 languages, including Hindi, Spanish, and French.

As of now, Google has integrated Gemini into most of its apps and services. Extending the support further, Google has announced that Gemini in Chrome also interacts with Google apps like YouTube, Calendar, Gmail, and Maps in the browser’s side panel. You can ask Gemini to help you draft a quick email, check locations, schedule meetings, and even summarize YouTube videos without leaving the open tab.

The new features are rolling out to desktop & iOS users

Gemini in Chrome can also pull info from multiple tabs so that you can compare products, cross-check information, and even get a single-page summary to save time spent on research. Moving on, Google is also integrating the Nano Banana 2 image generation model directly into Chrome, which allows you to edit or generate images directly from web pages using natural language. Google is rolling out Gemini in Chrome first to desktop and iOS Chrome users. The new AI features inside Chrome are available to Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus users in India, Canada, and New Zealand.
