The offer is currently rolling out to eligible Jio users in the country within the age group 18-25 years. However, there are certain conditions to claim the free subscription. Here’s everything that you should know about the new Google-Reliance Jio partnership, and how you can claim free access to Gemini AI Pro.

Here are the conditions to be eligible for the free Google AI Pro plan as a Jio user:

  • The age of the SIM owner should be between 18-25 years.
  • User should not have used any free trial of Google AI Pro plan before.
  • If a user is an existing paid subscriber of any tier of Google One, their benefits will be forfeited to start the 18-month free trial.
  • The Google account of the user should be registered in India.
  • The offer may not be available to all users, and the final decision is at the discretion of Reliance Jio.

If you fulfill this criterion, here’s how you can claim the free subscription:

2. On the home screen, tap on the Jio-Google Gemini offer banner.

3. Select Claim Now and accept the terms and conditions.

The free subscription of Google AI Pro plan under the Google-Jio partnership includes all the benefits from the actual paid tier. This includes:

  • Free 2TB storage of Google Drive, including Google Photos and Gmail.
  • Access to Pro and Advanced models of Gemini AI.

With these benefits, the free trial is no less than a bonanza offer for young users. The only drawback is that you need to be in the age group of 18-25 to claim this. Any user above or below this age group are not eligible, as they won’t find this banner in the MyJio app.

Growing Alliance Between AI Companies and Telecom Operators

Just a few weeks back, Airtel partnered with Perplexity to offer free annual subscription of Perplexity Pro to all Airtel users in India, without any age limit. It included access to advanced GPT-5 models from OpenAI and even Gemini 2.5 Pro model from Google, along with other frontier features like enhanced search and multimedia generation within Perplexity. It was also the first instance of a telecom operator offering a free subscription of an AI chatbot, as previous offerings were limited to OTT platforms.

The Ambani-led Reliance Group saw the massive buzz and reach generated by Airtel’s move, and partnered with Google as a rivalry move. It benefits both Reliance and Google, where the telco gets an upsurge in data usage with these AI chatbots, while the AI entity gets direct access to millions of users, potentially helping them train their AI models using a wider data set.

The partnerships between telcos and AI companies show that both are craving for more data to train their AI. Although artificial intelligence has made a multi-fold progress in the last two years, we are still long way from achieving AGI. Small partnerships like these will help AI companies like Google, OpenAI, and others develop their technologies faster.
