Claude for Excel: What is it?

The Claude integration in Excel is now available as a research preview in beta. I can read, analyse, perform any mathematical operation directly in an Excel workbook. The tool works as a chatbot in the side of your screen where you can type your question as a text prompt, and Claude will perform the action as per your instructions.

It also syncs with other Microsoft 365 Office apps like Word and Powerpoint, where you can select Claude as your agent in Copilot Studio. In simple words, Claude can now automate your office documents with a simple text prompt. This is similar to the Gemini AI integration in Google Doc apps.

However, this feature is only available to Max, Enterprise, and Team users. Anthropic is currently running a waitlist where the company will collect feedback from the first 1000 users, before rolling out the feature widely. Interested users can sign up for the preview on the official Claude website.
