It’s not hidden anymore that India is one of the biggest AI markets in the world. At a time when U.S. AI giants are expanding globally, a massive chunk of their user base now comes from India, spanning developers, startups, and everyday consumers experimenting with generative tools.
Speaking of which, many tech leaders have landed in New Delhi this week to attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Some prominent names, including Sam Altman, Bill Gates, Sundar Pichai, and many others, are set to attend the high-profile AI event in India’s capital city.
Adani targets 5GW capacity in nationwide AI data center plan
Not to forget, India is already one of the largest markets for many American tech platforms, and that is slowly converting into AI infrastructure, cloud demand, and data center expansion. Speaking of data centers, the Adani Group has just announced a massive plan spanning a decade that involves renewable energy-powered hyperscale data centers across the country. The amount committed by the Adani Group is a whopping $100 billion.
It’s understandable that this isn’t a short-term expansion or a minor capacity boost; Adani is looking to establish what it calls the world’s largest integrated data center platform. The initiative reportedly builds on AdaniConnex’s existing 2-gigawatt national data center footprint, with plans to scale toward 5 gigawatts.

The company further says the decision could help create a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India, alongside an additional $150 billion in related industries. Worth noting that the announcement coincides with India’s AI Impact Summit discussed above. Additionally, the announcement also had a positive effect on Adani’s stocks. All that said, availability of capital, regulatory developments, and global supply constraints could shape how quickly these plans materialize.
