Perplexity offers feds months of access to ‘Enterprise Pro for Government’ platform for free

Perplexity AI Launches New Window App With Voice Dictation

Key Highlights:

  • Perplexity partnered with the GSA to offer its Enterprise Pro for Government platform free for 18 months, allowing federal agencies to have quicker access to advanced AI tools without lengthy procurement delays.
  • The platform is fully model-agnostic, meaning, agencies can choose between Sonar, GPT models, Claude, and Gemini so they aren’t locked into a single vendor as AI adoption is growing across the government.
  • With long-term pricing negotiated and FedRAMP authorization fast-tracked, Perplexity is positioning itself as a key layer in America’s AI infrastructure.

Federal agencies across the U.S. government deal with an unimaginable amount of information. When I say information I mean all kinds of reports, policy drafts, documents, case briefings, operational timelines — the kind of stuff that can overwhelm even the most seasoned public servant. Well, Perplexity will help US public servants by offering them “powerful, accurate AI” to “help them serve” the country, thanks to a first-of-its-kind partnership with the United States government.

Perplexity’s Enterprise Pro for Government won’t cost a dime to feds under the new partnership

The company is partnering with the General Services Administration (GSA) to offer its Enterprise Pro for Government platform to federal agencies for free, but only for up to 18 months. This partnership makes Perplexity the first “major AI player” to secure a direct government-wide contract.

With President Trump’s AI Action Plan and GSA’s OneGov strategy in place, Perplexity thinks the new partnership comes at an important time. Agencies are now being fit right where the government wants them. Perplexity says that this partnership will help agencies to adopt AI tools without years of procurement red tape.

As part of the plan, tens of thousands of federal workers have already been using Perplexity to streamline workflows, research policies, crunch through audits, and pull insights from complex documents. Thanks to this partnership, agencies get an enterprise-ready, fully secure tool that they can deploy across their entire workforce.

The choice to work around different AI models

Here’s the part where this partnership stands out the most. Perplexity notes that agencies don’t want its staff to get locked into a single model or rely on one AI vendor — that’s been a major concern as AI adoption is growing with the US government. Well, Perplexity’s model-agnostic approach will apparently address that problem.

The AI company says that Enterprise Pro for Government includes Perplexity Sonar, GPT models, Claude, and Gemini. Yes, everything under an umbrella. Rather than forcing agencies to work around one model, Perplexity is giving agencies the choice they have been asking for. Thanks to this approach, agencies will be able to choose the best model for specific tasks.

Negotiations on long-term pricing already done

Perplexity’s latest move comes on the heels of GSA’s deals with other AI giants, like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, which are individually offering their AI models to the government for a dollar or less. With Perplexity’s Enterprise Pro for Government platform, also comes security standards that remain paramount to everyone, including feds.

In September 2025, Perplexity became the first publicly available AI platform to offer secure-by-default guarantees to federal users. The government has already labeled it as one of only two services designated for AI Prioritization, an official status from the GSA that fast-tracks its FedRAMP authorization. In other words, agencies can adopt it quicker while still meeting all compliance standards.

All that said, Perplexity isn’t shy about its ambitions, especially in the US, where it positions itself as an important layer of America’s AI infrastructure. And with long-term pricing already negotiated, agencies won’t have to worry about cost spikes down the road.
